The Faculty\u2019s Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Forum\u00a0recently held its second meeting of the academic year (2021-22).<\/p>\n
The Forum plays an essential role in driving forward the\u00a0Faculty\u2019s PPIE Action Plan<\/a>, an integral part of our\u00a0Social Responsibility (SR) strategy<\/a>, and includes representation from Public Contributors (PC), Schools, Divisions (staff and students) and key external stakeholders. It is Co-Chaired by Professor Stephanie Snow, Academic Lead for Community Engagement and Involvement and Kay Gallacher, who is one of our PC.<\/p>\n Guest speaker\u00a0Dr Kelly Howells<\/a>, Research Associate, Division of Population Health, Health Service Research and Primary Care and her co-presenters Jo, Mat and Debbie from\u00a0Groundswell<\/a>* discussed how they involve people who have experienced homelessness in research and the benefits of peer led research. They were recognised for this amazing work and were awarded an\u00a0\u2018Outstanding Contribution to PPIE\u2019 award<\/a>\u00a0in 2021,\u00a0find out more about the research<\/a>\u00a0(click on \u2018read more about our work with patient and carers \u2013 no. 3)<\/p>\n *Groundswell is a registered charity which enables people who have experience of homelessness to create solutions and move themselves out of homelessness \u2013 to benefit of our whole society.<\/p>\n Following the talk, members were asked what areas the Faculty should prioritise in regards to PPIE and discussed potential themes for this year\u2019s PPIE celebration event. Members also heard updates from Dr Hawys Williams regarding the Universtiy\u2019s SR plan and from\u00a0Vocal<\/a>\u00a0regarding their new skillsharing programme which is due to be launched shortly.
