On 30<\/span>th<\/span> March, the faculty marked International Day of Zero Waste, a global initiative, led by the United Nations, which resonates deeply with our commitment to sustainability and taking care of the environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The faculty\u2019s social responsibility team engaged in a dynamic Twitter\/X campaign aimed at raising awareness, inspiring action, and highlighting our ongoing efforts to reduce waste and promote sustainability across campus and beyond. Here is a recap of our campaign highlights:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 6R Approach to Plastic Reduction:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n We introduced our followers to the innovative 6R approach\u2014Review, Reduce, Reuse, Refill, Replace, Recycle – developed by Dr Maggy Fostier and Dr Ruth Grady. This method has been instrumental in reducing plastic waste across campus and empowering individuals to make a positive impact.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Furniture Recycling in the Simon Building:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n We highlighted our furniture recycling initiative, sharing how the University repurposes furniture to promote sustainability. This initiative provides staff and students with eco-friendly options for their workspace needs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Food Waste Reduction on Campus:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We shared the exciting news that food waste collection caddies that have been rolled out across main campus kitchens, a significant step towards reducing waste and fostering sustainability. Our efforts aim to create a greener future for all members of our community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Harriet Bickley’s Eco Booklet:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n We introduced ‘Easy Eco for All,’ a practical guide crafted by Harriet Bickley, an FBMH mental health researcher, to promote eco-friendly living. This resource offers valuable insights and tips on recycling, waste reduction, and ethical purchasing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Our Zero Waste Day campaign was a testament to our shared commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
