The Story of Beverley Wilson

My fellow PhD students inspire me. Seeing them juggle a million things at once and persevering through those times where nothing seems to be working, always drives me on and makes me remember that I can do the same. But it is not all about work, seeing my fellow students following their passions away from their lab bench or computer reminds me that work-life balance is vital!

I moved up to Manchester after doing my undergrad at Cambridge. My family live 25 miles away from Manchester, and I’ve enjoyed being able to easily pop home and see them. I guess knew I wanted to do a PhD after enjoying all my research projects during undergrad and summer placements. Truth be told I don’t think I realised how hard it would be working on a single project for four years! But now as I’m coming towards my final year I really appreciate having had the time and support network to keep plugging away at my PhD, and make loads of friends along the way!
