Talk abstract

Motor coordination, the ability to control our movements is an integral part of our day-to-day lives. From getting out of bed in the morning, to eating, playing and working we need to accurately control our movements. But what happens if we find motor coordination difficult? In this talk, I will briefly cover how our brains control our movements and why motor coordination difficulties are an overlooked but important aspect of autism. I will present some of my research on motor coordination difficulties in autistic adults and highlight the gaps in our knowledge that need to be addressed to enable motor coordination to have a higher profile in the assessment and support of autistic individuals
