My favourite moment
The highlight for me as a student mentor, was watching the students conduct an interview with a UK based Clinical Pharmacist. My role in this task was to moderate the interview, but the students conducted themselves so well, all I had to do was sit back and listen. They introduced themselves, asked their questions, and closed off the interview at the allotted 15 minute mark very professionally, even though they weren’t able to ask all their questions. Following the interview, however, one of our instructors on the MPharm program, who was attending this particular session, was able to answer the remaining questions as she was an experienced pharmacist herself. This was one of my favourite moments, as I could see the students were very engaged and genuinely excited for the opportunity, and it was lovely to listen to not one, but two highly experienced pharmacists talk about their careers.
Overall, I am really glad I volunteered for this role. Not only did I learn a lot from the students, but I got the chance to develop my presentation skills, meet other pharmacy students and learn valuable tips and skills through the mentor workshops. This role helped me realise how much I enjoy taking a leadership role, and having the opportunity to make a positive impact on others.
