Representatives from our Technical Apprenticeship Programme attended a networking event hosted by Rt. Hon. The Baroness McGregor-Smith CBE at the House of Lords

This event held on 7th March provided the chance to hear from the new chair of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education’s board, Baroness McGregor-Smith CBE, and meet a wide variety of employers and key stakeholders from the education sector, members of the House of Lords and MPs, as well as other apprentices and T Level students from across England.

The university apprentices had their own poser table, one of only three provided for invited guests, with a card saying, ‘Ask me about my apprenticeship’. The room was filled with supportive employers who were interested in hearing about our programme and how working life extends beyond an apprenticeship into a rewarding career. Many of our apprentices have moved into roles within the university and continued their education through degree level apprenticeships supported by the Skills and Development team with their academic study funded from the levy pot.
