During the Technician Commitment Signatory event on 15 June 2022 The University of Manchester received the Institutional Award in recognition of the commitment and positive progress to ensuring visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability of technical skills and roles, reflecting the on-going work of Manchester’s Technical Commitment Leadership Group and associated teams.

The award was presented by Professor Sally Bradley, Senior Advisor (Professional Learning and Development), Advance HE, to Colin Baines during the Technician Commitment Signatory event at the Guildhall in York.

Colin said: “I was exceptionally pleased to accept this award on behalf of our University – our Technical Services teams perform a fantastic role supporting colleagues across a wide range of disciplines. They deserve the visibility and recognition this brings.”

Our University was a founding signatory of the Technician Commitment, which now boasts 91 members. The Commitment aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research, across all disciplines.
