On Friday July 26th Egyptology at Manchester held their annual Awards Day. This year saw a large turn-out of students and their families, some travelling to Manchester from Egypt and Costa Rica. As always, the day started with two lectures given by Dr Joyce Tyldesley (who spoke about Childbirth and Childhood in Ancient Egypt) and Dr Nicky Nielsen (who spoke about the origins and development of the ‘Mummy’s Curse’ trope). The ceremony itself was hosted in the University of Manchester Whitworth Council Chambers with a subsequent reception in the nearby Christie’s Bistro.

We would like to thank all our students, both those who attended and those who could not, for their hard work and dedication. Dr Tyldesley and Dr Nielsen would also like to thank in particular Anne Pinkerton, Lisa Monk and Kate Hilton, the course administrators and eLearning specialists who have helped greatly with the development and management of Manchester’s unique suite of online Egyptology courses.
