A one-stop hub for resources, guidance, and engagement opportunities is now live …

The Faculty Social Responsibility and Public Engagement Team is excited to announce the launch of its new Social Responsibility (SR) SharePoint site, now live and available for all University of Manchester staff.  This purpose-built platform has been designed as a centralised resource hub where staff can access everything they need to engage with Social Responsibility activity. From guidance and toolkits to events and collaboration opportunities, the SR SharePoint site brings together key initiatives in one easily accessible place.

What is the SR SharePoint Site?

The FBMH Social Responsibility SharePoint site is a dedicated online platform that allows staff to:

  • Find information about Social Responsibility across the Faculty
  • Access toolkits, guides, and templates
  • Stay informed about upcoming events and news
  • Share ideas and get involved in current and future SR initiatives

It is designed to support our shared commitment to creating a more inclusive, sustainable, and socially responsible Faculty environment.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Centralised Information Hub: All SR-related activities, tools, and news in one convenient location
  • Event Coordination: A space to stay up to date with relevant activities and plan participation
  • Engagement Opportunities: Clear pathways for staff to get involved in meaningful SR work
  • Toolkits and Resources: Access to practical materials, including a full Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Toolkit
  • Focus Areas: Covers key themes including EDI, Environmental Sustainability, Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE), Service Learning, and the Museum of Medicine and Health

This new platform is instrumental in fostering a culture of Social Responsibility across FBMH and offers a dynamic alternative to static pages on StaffNet.

Why Create a SharePoint Site?

The SR SharePoint was developed in response to feedback that Social Responsibility information on StaffNet was difficult to locate and, in some cases, publicly accessible—raising potential data security concerns. Unlike StaffNet, the SharePoint site is:

  • Exclusively available to UoM staff
  • Easily updated with the latest content
  • Better structured to reflect the evolving nature of SR work

Access and Maintenance

  • Who Can Access It? All University of Manchester staff can access the site. You’ll be prompted to log in if you aren’t already. Students do not have access.
  • Who Can Update It? Only members of the SR Team can upload or edit content. If you’d like to suggest changes or contribute resources, email srbmh@manchester.ac.uk.
  • How to Navigate: Use the clear menu at the top of the homepage to explore the site’s sections. An FAQ document is available to guide new users.

Will It Replace StaffNet?

No. StaffNet will still be active, but the SharePoint site will be updated more frequently and used as the primary space for new Social Responsibility content. A link to the new SharePoint will also be added to StaffNet for ease of access.

We encourage all staff to bookmark the site, explore its resources and share it with colleagues. Your feedback is invaluable—whether it’s a suggestion correction, or a new idea, please get in touch via srbmh@manchester.ac.uk or use the feedback form available on the site footer.

Together, we can strengthen our commitment to Social Responsibility.
