Wanted – Lecturers in Global Health and Disaster Management

We’re expanding our portfolio of teaching and research here at HCRI and as a result we’re recruiting a Lecturer in Global Health and a Lecturer in Disaster Management. Both will join us in September 2011 on 3 year fixed term contracts.

Lecturer in Global Health (HUM/12502)
Salary: £32,751 – £35,788 per annum

This lectureship is intended to provide research-informed teaching in Global Health as well as related research activity in the Institute.

You must have, or be close to completing, a PhD (or equivalent postgraduate qualifications) in a relevant discipline and have a record of, or potential to produce, publications in internationally recognised outlets. Relevant areas of expertise include (but are not limited to) the ethics of health interventions, politics of global health policy and interventions, north-south knowledge transfers, promotion of public health, health economics, logistics and processes of emergency humanitarian assistance, and epidemiology and treatment of diseases which have international impact. Greater consideration will be given to those applicants whose research connects with any aspect of global health (broadly conceived). Experience of curriculum design, successful applications for research funding, post-graduate teaching and experience with online course development and distance learning are also desirable.

Lecturer in Disaster Management (HUM/12503)
Salary: £32,751 – £35,788 per annum

This lectureship is intended to provide research-informed teaching as well as related research activity in the Institute.

You must have, or be close to completing, a PhD in a relevant discipline and have a record of, or potential to produce, publications in internationally recognised outlets. Relevant areas of research include (but are not limited to) disaster management, humanitarian intervention, post-war reconstruction, peace studies, displacement, securitisation, emergency assistance, donor policy, and NGO programming. Greater consideration will be given to those applicants whose research connects with any aspect of disaster management (broadly conceived). Experience of curriculum design, successful applications for research funding, post-graduate teaching and experience with online course development and distance learning are also desirable.
