Faith in times of doubt: questions as part of the journey
Doubt often feels uncomfortable, but it is also part of faith. To question is to seek understanding, and God meets us in that search.
Mark 9:24 records a man’s honest prayer: “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” This tension between faith and doubt is part of being human.
At university, questions are valued, they help us learn and grow. Faith, too, is strengthened when we allow ourselves to wrestle with uncertainties.
If you are carrying questions, please don’t carry them alone. The University of Manchester Wellbeing Service (https://www.studentsupport.manchester.ac.uk/taking-care/) and chaplaincy teams are here for support.
If you are a student, please check out the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy team website: https://www.studentsupport.manchester.ac.uk/taking-care/other-support/chaplaincy/#:~:text=The%20Multi-Faith%20Chaplaincy%20team,occasion%20their%20families%20or%20guardians.

If you are studying or working elsewhere, please connect with your own university’s wellbeing services.
Doubt reminds us: questions are not enemies of faith but companions on the journey.
