HCRI’s Prof James Thompson, will be delivering the University’s most prestigious annual lecture on 11 June 2013.

As well as serving as HCRI’s Executive Director, James leads on the In Place of War project – a research initiative at the University of Manchester that documents theatre and performance projects in sites of contemporary armed conflict.

In his lecture, James will outline the beginnings of the project in Sri Lanka in 2000 and the questions that the research project has sought to answer. He will discuss questions raised about the relationship between the arts and war and will give an account of the present state of the project highlighting the connection between this research and the work of HCRI
